Beyond Paul the Blind Preacher: The Hummingbird Method of Microdose

Based on a series of dreams and coincidences, I am titling this technique and its recipes: the Hummingbird Method. Think of tiny amounts of nectar and how the hummingbird is so small, therefore it consumes only tiny amounts of manna, flesh of the Gods.

For starters, let’s rework the recipes of Stamets into something more accessible to morning pilgrims of the holy mushroom.

Paul Stamets suggests:

Quote from the Article on Microdosing for Neurogenesis:

“The neurogenesis protocol is specific for a 70 kg (154 pound) person. Leaning towards the higher doses for heavier people is probably best, but not until trying a smaller dose first (as each person is different).

  • 1 – 10 mg  psilocybin / psilocin (psilocybe mushroom @ 1% = .1 – 1 g)
  • 500 – 200 mg lion’s mane mushroom extract (@ 1% = 5 – 20 g)
  • 101 – 200 mg niacin

The protocol calls for taking this stack 5 times in a row and then 2 days off.”

Introducing the Hummingbird Method (based on Frank Herbert and Hugh Alkemi’s experiences):

It is preferred, in my opinion and experience, to take one’s medicinal mushrooms and microdose in the morning. It’s even better if one notices how the experience offers clarity and energy perhaps in a way that better than caffeine. Perhaps one day magic mushroom microdosing will replace morning coffees and black teas.

Anytime Blend:

  • Hericium Mushrooms (Fruit Bodies Only) Powdered 1 gram
  • Reishi double extract and super concentrate (our personal choices include, make it yourself with wild fresh Reishi or Dragon Herbs out of Santa Monica, CA) one dropper in your drink or across your dry mushroom powder.  (It’s helpful to let it dry into the powder)
  • Cordyceps 1g Fruit Body if possible, dried and powdered), tinctures are great if they are again a super extraction. There are lots of quality control conversations to be had about this but essentially please focus on fruit bodies or at least fruit bodies and mycelium, never just mycelium or myceliated grains. (I have this dream of growing cordyceps on bugs that I raised with love and fed psilocybe mushrooms. Hint: Dubia roaches love to eat these.)
  • Ginseng tincture (Again, I trust Dragon Herbs with this and all of the above ingredients)
  • Gingko Biloba (capsules or tinctures)
  • Celatrus paniculatus – Intellect Tree (this is helpful  to eat in a gel cap)
  • 100mg to 500mg Velvet Bean – Macuna Pruriens (never more than 1g daily, skip this about 3-4 times a week)

An Easy Way to Pick Up most of these items is to go through Dragon Herbs:

Reishi Mix:

Purple Reishi:

Lion’s Mane:

Cultured Cordyceps:

Ginseng Traditional:

American Ginseng:

Gingko Caps:

Other Sources:

Cognitol from Om-Chi Herbs is an excellent source for effective formulae specially the Intellect Tree seed oil:

All of these herbs and especially Magic Mushrooms are not recommended to take every day in this stack. Some things in the stack are excellent for every day.

These supplements include:

  • Reishi,
  • Cordyceps,
  • Lion’s Mane,
  • Ginseng,
  • Intellect Tree
  • Gingko Biloba

Personally, I love taking days off. I also don’t encourage tea, coffee or even chocolate everyday. I’m a huge fan of cycling off and on with skin and internal supplements. As with some herbs, Magic Mushrooms, specifically the psilocybin containing ones, it’s important to take days off in order to allow tolerance to reset within the human body. Generally, this takes 24 to 36 hours for a healthy human being. The Nootropedia article mentions dosing five days on and 2 days off with the Stamets’ recipe.

Now how much magic mushroom to put in? In the past I have made this in bigger family sized batches with amounts up to 1 gram or 1000 mg. Personally, I would use about .1 gram or .25 gram for myself in a single morning dose. See my bell curve model to understand potentially up-dosing or down-stepping.

It’s up to the individual really. Honestly, the opinions that Paul has on abuse are a little silly and a person can handle themselves by slowing the process of up stepping from nothing to .1 gram (100 mg) or even less. Start with nothing then add very little something.

If a person does not prefer to take capsules, then a drink such as cacao (raw chocolate) is a great idea, chicory and coffee substitutes are excellent (here’s one that I recommend). If someone is a morning coffee drinker then mold/fungal free organic coffee like the Bulletproof or Keto recipes are a must-try.

Learn about Bulletproof and Keto here.

How to Make Bulletproof Coffee (Keto Coffee)

I personally prefer to make a Keto Cacao/hot chocolate by blending and adding ingredients at about 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Sometimes I don’t check for precise temperatures and I will brew it at about 140 degrees which will not negatively affect the flavor but might break down the cacao’s theobromine and anandamide and any psilocybin in the mix (but not significantly). The intention is to keep temperatures below 200 by a significant amount (so even 160 isn’t extreme, ideally splash in something cool like mint tea or vegan milk).

Follow this link to go to a drinking cacao specific article with recipes and more.

This might be an article or a video for another time but mushrooms and mold do not mix well and taken together would affect consciousness the way an argumentative angel and demon upon left and right shoulders affect decision-making. (Coming soon, an article on the ET Shroom Voice and Vision from Sedona about Mold and Humanity)

These formulae would be just as effective in my opinion without the currently illegal (in the USA) component: Psilocybin-containing Mushrooms. Therefore, I will be offering these as pre-blended powders and encapsulations on my sites in the near future (with legal components only) and I will start taking them off-and-on myself, with and without the Sacred Mushrooms and share new stories of personal and spiritual development. Additionally, please contact me to sample these blends (without the psilocybin) and I would love to hear the feedback and experiential stories of new friends.

A word to the reader and dose taker: My teacher was a modern day Kokopelli and I fall into the same tradition with my herbalism. Therefore most of the formulas and experimental combinations that I talk about here and on EntheoRadio podcast, will be Aphrodisiacs, adaptogenic and alchemically tonifying. I apologize in advance if you have a lot of sexual energy and no way to exhaust it and if that increases due to consumption of any of the herbs or fungi that I recommended. Sex is healthy, sex drive is a sign a person or animal is alive and well; remember to practice balance. I personally practice celibacy for spiritual purity before Mazatec mushroom and other ceremonies and I also have tantric and Taoist practices of energy cultivation which move the sexual well of lifeforce energy (that most people experience as libido), up into other organs for healing and longevity. More for another time…until then, live long in pleasure and prosper!

“Lion’s Mane Dosage:

Lion’s mane research is scarce and the dosage recommendations are guesswork. The human study that exists used a dose of 1,000 mg with 96% purity extract three times a day (total of 3,000 mg extract). This is considered to be an effective dose of lion’s mane.

A good place to start is 500 – 1,000 mg of lion’s mane extract.

Keep in mind, this will depend heavily upon the psychoactive beta-glucans. If your lion’s mane supplement has 10% beta-glucans, you will need double the dosage compared to a 20% beta-glucan product. ”

“The main lion’s mane mushroom health benefits come from the fruiting bodies, which is where all the psychoactive ingredients are located.”
